The article presents the main results of a research to understand and analyze the performanceof two educational and community radio stations: Radio Cutivalu of Piura and Radio Maranonof Jaen, in the context of socio-environmental conflict generated by the Rio Blanco miningproject (2005 -2007) located in a header basin in northeastern of Peru, whose sphere of influenceincludes the provinces of Huancabamba and Ayabaca in Piura region, and San Ignacio,in Cajamarca region. The study emphasizes the kinds of involvement and roles configured forboth stations in the dynamics of social conflict.
