Egg production and feed efficiency were significantly decreased by added sodium acetate in the rations. Egg yolk colour was significantly affected by sodium salts added to the rations. There were no significant differences among groups in the other variables of egg quality, feed consumption and egg weight. Egg specific gravity and egg yolk index were affected at some periods of the experiment by sodium salts in the rations.
