A vian eııcephalomyelitis ıvas deseribed in eight 44-dayold ehiekens. Clinically, fine tremars of the head and neek were present, and elıickens s/lOlVedan indinatian to sit on their hoeks. Cross lesions were not observed. Histologically obvious lesions were in the central nervous system. Nonpumlent encephalomyelilis characterized by perivaseular euffing, focal or diffuse gliosis in the eerebrum, cerebellum and medulla spina!is, joeal glial nodules especially in the stratum moleculare oj' the cerebellum, degenerative changes and necrosis in the neurons oj'the brain stem J.1'eredetected. No lesions were seen in the peripheral nenes. In the muscıılar layer (~Lthe proventrieulus and pancreas, tlzere were mononudear eell foci whieh are pathognomonic fi'lldings of the avian encephalomyelitis.
