In the Ottoman Empire, which returned to the West with Tanzimat, many discussions took place in the social field. These are about the place and function of Turkish women in society. As a result, there has been a great deal of discussion about the resolution of the issue of women's rights, which has been the basis of criticism from Europeans against Turks remarkable steps were taken in the 19th century; especially on the education of women, and significant developments were recorded under the influence of the supportive views of Turkish intellectuals. However, some Europeans who did not give up their European prejudice and temporarily embraced the Turkish identity were support. Osman Bey or his real name Frederick Millingen is one of them. Penned in French, "Les Femmes en Turquie" (Women in Turkey, 1878) in his book revealed the negative attitude towards the Turks through the problem of Turkish women's rights.
