Descartes aims to arrive at clear and distinct reliable and absolute knowledge about reality. By achiving his goal, he begins to doubt all kinds of knowledge through the methodic doubt. At the end of doubting, he arrived at the idea that he can not doubt about his doubting and therefore he can not doubt about his existence which is aware of doubting. Lastly, he reached to the idea that Cogito ergo sum which is a kind of clear and distinct knowledge. Cogito, the first principle, reached by intuition is the basis for Descartes’ philosophy to prove the existence of God and existence of external world.
