OZET: Gunumuzdeki harita kavrami, geleneksel olarak kullandigimiz harita kavraminin otesinde cok daha genis anlamlari icermektedir. Zihni harita, cevremizdeki her sey ile alakali zihnimizde var olan haritadir. Zihni haritalar, kagit haritalarda oldugu gibi dokunulabilen haritalar olmadigindan gercek haritalardan tamamen farklidirlar. Ne cesit bir zihni haritaya sahip oldugunuz sizin icin neyin onemli olduguna baglidir. Her yastaki insanin bir zihni haritasi vardir ve surekli zihni haritalarimizi kullaniriz. Ayrica insanlarin sahip olduklari zihni haritalar, onlarin icinde bulunduklari sosyal ortam, aile, etnik yapi, ekonomik durum ve almis olduklari egitim ile dogru orantilidir. Bu acidan zihni haritalar, okullarda ogretilecek kadar onemlidir. Dunya, insanlarin bakisina gore degismekte ve her bir bakis acisinin esit oranda degeri vardir. Her ogrencinin dunyayi nasil gordugu farkli olup belirli bir temele dayanmaktadir ki, bu temel okullarimizda verilecek iyi bir egitim ile saglanabilir. Zihni haritasi kuvvetli bireyler, hem kendileri hem de ulkemiz icin onemli roller ustlenirler. Cunku her sey belirli bir mekan uzerinde gerceklesir ve o mekan uzerindeki bilgiye sahip olan, orayi daha iyi kontrol eder. Bunu basarabilmemiz icin, okullarimizda zihni harita aktivitelerinin yayginlastirilmasi gereklidir. ANAHTAR KELIMELER: Zihni Haritalar, Cografya Egitimi, Haritalar, Ilk ve Orta Ogretim Okullari ABASTRACT: Maps that we use in our contemporary society are completely different and broad from traditional ones. Mental maps are the features aroud us that we put in our brains. Since they are imajinary, they differ from trational maps. Every person has his/her own mental maps. Social status, cultural background, education history, ekonomik situation affect people mental maps. Everybody has a different views of the world and each of them has equal value. In our schools, each student also has his/her own views of the world in their mind, which is important for himself/herself or our country. We are aware of the fact that so many things are on spatial context. Thus, who ever has a good mental maps about local and global scale, they control so big power related with that place. Thus, we have to provide a good mental map education during K-12 education to our students so that they can use to make a better community, country, and world.
