The aim of this in vitro study was evaluate by scanning elec- tron microscope the enamel micro morphology of primary teeth after etching with 35% phosphoric acid for 15, 30 or 45 seconds, on the buccal or occlusal surface in primary mo- lars. Twenty-four clinically sound naturally, exfoliated pri- mary molars were selected and stored in saline solution at the room temperature. The samples were subjected to a pu- mice past prophylaxis with a low speed hand piece and were randomly divided in six experimental groups in 4 teeth in each one .The specimens of the groups 1 to 3 were acid etched on the buccal surface, and the specimens of the groups 4 to 6 on the occlusal surface. In G1 and G4, the samples were etched for 15 s, in G2 and G5 for 30 s, and in G3 and G6 for 45 s. After, all the sample was washed with air- water spray du- ring 15 s.
