This study offers some information on the definition of the institutionalization and its benefits for people who are interested in translation institutions and translation activities. In addition, the study opens a discussion whether the institutionalization is necessary in terms of translation by inferring at the end that it is compulsory for the translation activity. Basing the study on a book entitled “Translation Institutions in Turkey” by Tacedding Kayaoglu, we briefly mention translation institutions and “Translation Bureau” in the Republican Period and share some findings as to the what extent the institutionalization has been ensured by these institutions. It is offered an insight into what kind of steps can be taken in the name of institutionalization and the examinations of the priorities of the institutions. In the end, it has been emphasized why it is necessary to institutionalize in translation and it is suggested about what the institutionalization expresses for the present time and how it can be realized today.
