This report aims to analyse the mountain communities' creation, closely related to the shaping up of the territory of the gipuzkoan cities and towns in the transit from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Ages. Demographic spreading begun in the 14th century and overall in the 15th century, which promoted the develop of economic activities, caused the siege around common lands, giving way to some usurpations, which caused the reaction from council institutions who started a process to reassert and to delimit its land. That cause, eventually, the creation of mountain communities to avoid the problems that was arisen in the management and using of border forests and lands.
