The necropolis of Poble Nou in Villajoyosa (Alicante) dates to the Late Iberian period and houses some interesting pottery with painted decoration. It displays a distinctive symbolic style not previously seen in the well-known nearby sites of Tossal de Manises in Alicante and La Alcudia in Elche, or any other «Contestano» site. The extensive and well-preserved repertoire of vessels recovered with their distinctive painted decoration allowed us to identify a new painting style that appears to have come from a single workshop, possibly a local one.
