Peris Albentosa is a prolific modernist historian who has dedicated his historiographical interest to the rural history of Valencia. Through studies on the social structure of agricultural property he has investigated, with new questions and approaches, social relations in Valencian irrigation, active during feudalism. We now offer an interpretive synthesis of the hydraulic theme, Valencian water mills throughout the feudal period. It weighs up the extensive research on Valencian mills during the last three decades, where it compares and contrasts different theses and methodologies, along with a thorough contribution of local and regional information and data (as evidenced by the final bibliography).
