Planificación territorial en regiones industriales maduras: el caso del Ruhr (Alemania)

The aim of this article is to show how the industrial regions confront scenarios of structural crisis as the current one by means of more flexible approaches of spatial planning. We will analyze the case of the Rhine - Ruhr, an industrial region without many tradition in spatial planning, that has been endowed in the last years of a series of interesting and innovative tools of spatial planning, in order to face both to the structural problems and to the challenges of the globalization.
