The municipality of Sax, situated in the Comarca del Alto Vinalopo, at the northeast of the Province of Alicante, was part of the Kingdom of Murcia until 1836, and, thereby, of the Crown of Castille. This fact, together with its condition of municipality of realengo, in the border of an area where the feudal-estate regime predominated, have given it its own and special characteristics. The object of this study is to point out those aspects of Agrarian Geography concerning the property of land and its uses. For this purpose, we have first analysed these variables in the years of the middle XVIII Century, making use of a valuable source of information, the Catastro de Ensenada, later we continue its evolution comparing with other similar documents of middle XIX Century. Thereby, property structure, distribution of crops, their location regarding the edaphological conditions and, finally, the tecniques used in the farming tasks are the basic points of this work.
