UMA TERRACOTA DE ESTILO HELENÍSTICO DA NECRÓPOLE DO OLIVAL DO SENHOR DOS MÁRTIRES (ALCÁCER DO SAL): BREVES NOTAS.

EnglishA detailed description of a terracotta exhumed by Vergilio Correia in the 1920s in the necropolis of Olival do Senhor dos Martires is presented. It corresponds to a kourotrophos type figure dating to the roman republican period which is integrated in an iconographic model of Hellenistic background well known in the Central and Western Mediterranean but rare in the Western Iberian Peninsula. It is in all likelihood the representation of a nourishing and psychopomp deity difficult to identify which was plausibly used in the context of funerary rites and cult. portuguesDa-se a conhecer de forma detalhada uma terracota recolhida por Vergilio Correia na decada de 1920 na necropole do Olival do Senhor dos Martires, Alcacer do Sal. Trata-se de uma figura de tipo kourotrophos, datavel de epoca romana republicana e que se integra num modelo iconografico de fundo helenistico bem conhecido no Mediterrâneo Central e Ocidental mas raro no Ocidente Peninsular. Tratar-se-a de uma figuracao de uma divindade nutricia e psicompompa de dificil identificacao que tera plausivelmente sido utilizada no contexto dos rituais e do culto funerario.
