Marcus’s view of belief is applied to the debate that centers around the question, “Are delusions beliefs?” Two consequences of this are that, i) the question, “Are delusions beliefs?”, strictly speaking, needs rephrasing and ii) that, once the question is rephrased, the answer is “No”, many delusional patients do not believe what they prima facie seem to believe.
