Python's capabilities include scientific plotting [5,26–29], GUI building [30–32], automatic Web page generation [33–35], and interfacing with Windows components [36,37] and with external programs like R [38] and Matlab [39]. As hardware becomes faster, a computer's raw processing time is less relevant than scientist's time [40]. Scripting languages allow the programmer to do more in less time, making Python an excellent choice for bioinformatics data analysis.
