R E S U M O A mangabeira ( Hancornia speciosa Gomes) e uma planta de porte arbustivo, que se encontra vegetando espontaneamente nas regioes Nordeste, Centro-Oeste, Norte e Sudeste do Brasil. Em algumas regioes, partes da planta sao utilizadas na medicina popular. A casca, por exemplo, possui propriedades adstringentes e o latex empregado contra a tuberculose, ulceras, herpes, dermatoses e verrugas. Alem disso, o cha da folha e usado para colica menstrual e, o decoto da raiz, para tratar luxacoes e hipertensao. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a composicao centesimal da folha da mangabeira e realizar uma analise comparativa dos resultados com a teoria pesquisada. Os experimentos foram realizados na Faculdade NOVAFAPI, na cidade de Teresina – PI. As analises fisico-quimicas foram realizadas no laboratorio de Bioquimica da Faculdade NOVAFAPI. Utilizou-se extrato aquoso extraido a partir de 100g de folhas secas moidas em 100ml de solvente alcoolico  por um periodo de 72h, e retirado o extrato atraves do processo de filtracao, com o qual foram medidos varios parâmetros quimicos e fisicos. A partir dos resultados foi possivel concluir relacao com o poder hipotensivo do cha da folha. A B S T R A C T The mangabeira (Hancornia speciosa Gomes) is a plant of starflowers, Arun spontaneously in Northeast, Centre-West, North and South of Brazil. In some regions, parts of the plant are used in folk medicine. The bark, for example, has astringent properties and LaTeX employee against tuberculosis, ulcers, herpes, dermatoses and warts. Moreover, tea leaf is used for menstrual cramps and the root decoto, for treating dislocations and hypertension. This study aimed to evaluate the centesimal composition of folha da mangabeira and perform a comparative analysis of the results with the theory being searched. The experiments were conducted in College NOVAFAPI in Teresina – PI. Physical-chemical analyses were conducted in the laboratory of Biochemistry faculty NOVAFAPI. Used aqueous extract extracted from 100 g of dried leaves crushed in 100 ml of alcohol solvent for a period of 72 h, and removed the extract through the process of filtration, which were measured various chemical and physical parameters. From the results cannot complete relationship with power hipotensivo tea leaf.
