The aim of research is to determine the effect of STAR strategy on 2 grade students’ academic achievement and problem solving skills in the computer assisted mathematics instruction. 30 students who attend to 2 grade course in a primary school in Aydin in 2010-2011 education year join the study group. The research has been taken place in 7 week. 3 types of tests have been used as means of data collecting tool, “Academic Achievement Test”, “Problem Solving Achievement Test” and “The Evaluation Form of Problem Solving Skills”. At the end of research students’ views about computer assisted mathematics instruction were evaluated. It has been examined that whether the differences between the scores of pre-test and post-test are statistically meaningful or not. According to the results, a positive increase on the academic achievement and problem solving skills has been determined at the end of the education carried out with STAR strategy.
