The quality of atmospheric air has improved in recent years, but there are still situations in which the atmospheric emissions combined with specific meteorological conditions make short-term air quality indicators in excess of the acceptable standards. In the months of January-March 2017, the smog phenomenon, present especially in large urban agglomerations received significant media coverage. The statistical analysis of the concentration of suspended particulate pollution PM10 – fractions with a particle diameter less than 10 μm (identified with smog) in Wrocław in the years 2012–2017 was performed. Similarities and differences in the volatility of this indicator were noted in the period X–IV 2016/2017 when compared to the previous five years in Wroclaw. There were no statistically significant differences in air quality in the recent period compared to the previous ones.
