Leslie C. Edie, 1914-1990, one of the early pioneers in the fields of operations research and transportation science, was also one of the earliest members of ORSA, and a founding member of the ORSA Transportation Science Section TSS. He served as the second Chairman of TSS which became the model of all the other ORSA Sections created over the years. In 1964, he worked with D.C.G. who was then TSS Chairman, to set in motion the process for the creation of the first topical journal of ORSA, Transportation Science, of which R.H. served as the founding Editor. In 1972 he was President of ORSA, having served previously as a member of the ORSA Council and several ORSA Committees.
