Fotografia Mortuária Na Bahia: Uma Abordagem Sobre Suas Práticas Nos Sertões

A fotografia pos-morte foi uma tecnica bastante recorrente na tradicao fotografica ocidental. Ate meados do seculo passado, era comum se encontrar algum tipo de artefato fotografico entre os repositorios da memoria familiar de diversos grupos sociais. Este artigo consiste no estudo de uma serie de fotografias mortuarias coletadas em pesquisa realizada sobre circuito social da fotografia nos sertoes baianos durante a primeira metade do seculo passado. O objetivo foi analisar a natureza e caracteristica dessas fotografias ligadas as praticas funebres, bem como desvendar os possiveis usos e funcoes desses artefatos no interior dos grupos sociais aos quais pertenciam. O estudo revela alguns tracos similares e outros bem particulares dessas praticas realizadas naqueles sertoes baianos em relacao a outras regioes do Brasil e do mundo. Until the middle of last century it was common to find some kind of photographic artifact among the repositories of family memory of different social groups. This article is the study of a series of mortuary photographs collected in a survey about photography social circuit in Bahia hinterlands during the first half of the last century. The objective was to analyze the quality and character of these photographs linked to funeral practices, and uncovers the possible uses and functions of these devices inside the social groups to which they belonged. The study reveals some similar traits and other special well these practices carried out in those backlands Bahia compared to other regions of Brazil and the world. Keywords : Photography mortuary.
