Nowadays, for effective information management, libraries are referred to Enterprise Content Management systems. However, switching to a useless or faulty portal system or adopting impractical concepts can have serious consequences. The example is the open source Liferay Portal system, which was implemented at the University Library in Torun in 2013. In this case, after three years of use, migration was required to a newer, error-free version. Accordingly, the authors discussed the migration of the community version of Liferay Portal 6.0.2 to a stable and mature release of 6.2.5. This article attempts to organize the work that was done during the migration work, as well as to indicate the number of problems that have been resolved. The intent of this article is also to highlight the opportunities offered by the Liferay Portal platform for building a library intranet. Platform migration has been successful and has benefited the various user groups that use it.
