The main aim of this paper is to report the results of research conducted by the present author, and to present the findings and conclusions concerning distinctive emotional and cognitive characteristics which, according to the research data presented in the subject literature, describe psychological functioning of individuals suffering from anorexia or bulimia nervosa, and are regarded as significant factors that predict the development of impulsive and restrictive behaviours in patients diagnosed with the aforementioned eating disorders.
