RDA – Eine Option für Archivalien?

DOI: 10.12685/027.7-3-2-62 Der neue Standard RDA hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Erschliessung in Bibliotheken und anderen Gedachtsinstitutionen in das neue Jahrhundert zu fuhren. Aus Sicht der nicht-bibliothekarischen Institutionen muss aber zuerst geklart werden, ob RDA den eigenen Bedurfnissen uberhaupt entsprechen kann. Anhand ausgewahlter Medientypen wird gezeigt, dass der Standard den Erschliessungsanforderungen aus historischem Blickwinkel durchaus gerecht werden kann. Knackpunkte sind jedoch die Beschreibung von Dossiers und die Abbildung von Bestandsgliederungen. Letztlich durfte, trotz der vorhandenen Eignung von RDA, eine Annaherung der Erschliessung uber einen gemeinsamen Normdatenpool vorerst sinnvoller sein. The goal of the new standard RDA is to lead libraries and other institutions specialised on historical records management into the new century in terms of indexing. These other institutions however need to evaluate whether RDA can meet their special expectations. Based on the examination of different media types this article shows that RDA can be used for indexing historical material. Yet, the description of files and the mapping of the context of collections are serious challenges. This article argues that for now despite the possibilities of RDA the implementation of a common authority file might be more promising.
