Jozef Šteffek (1952–2013) – Obituary

The outstanding Slovak malacologist Jozef Steffek passed away on the 19th of April 2013. He was a well-known scientist, who frequently published his papers in Folia Malacologica and reviewed papers submitted to our journal. He also took part in some early Malacological Seminars organised in Poland. Many of us conducted joint research projects with him, some of us were his friends. That is why we have decided to translate his obituary written by Marek Ciliak and Tomas Cejka and published in Slovak in Malacologica Bohemoslovaca (12: 70-88, 2013). We are grateful to both authors and to Lucie Juřickova, Editor-in-Chief of Malacologica Bohemoslovaca, whose permission allows us to honour the memory of Jozef.
