Depolymn. of paraldehyde in benzene catalyzed by SiO2-ZrO2, SiO2-TiO2, Al2O3-ZrO2, TiO2-ZrO2, Al2O3-TiO2 (calcined at various temps.) is studied. The catalytic activity (first order rate const., k) exhibits a max. against the temp. of heat treatment of the catalyst. The acid sites at pKa ≤-3.0 correlate best with catalytic activity for depolymn. of paraldehyde
