By the methods described in this paper it has been shown that: (1) A clasping action can be produced in male frogs at all times of the year. (2) This reaction is peculiar to the male. (3) The course of the decline and onset of the hypertrophy of the brachial musculature up to a maximum at the breeding period can be followed. (4) This hypertrophy appears to follow fairly closely the changes occurring in the interstitial tissue of the testis.
