1. Weight fluctuations, like those previously recorded for Helix pomatia, are shown by Arion ater and Limax flavus. 2. The fluctuations are shown by slugs receiving water but no food. 3. Slugs receiving food but no water lose weight very rapidly and die in a few days. The loss of weight is due mainly to evaporation of water through the skin.
