First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Xin Zhang is first author on ‘ LRRC23 is a conserved component of the radial spoke that is necessary for sperm motility and male fertility in mice’, published in JCS. Xin is a PhD student in the lab of Mingxi Liu at the State Key Laboratory Of Reproductive Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, China where he is engaged in the study of E3 ubiquitin ligases in spermatogenesis and the ultrastructures of sperm flagella.
