First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Zofia Ostrowska-Podhorodecka is first author on ‘Vimentin tunes cell migration on collagen by controlling β1 integrin activation and clustering’, published in JCS. Zofia is a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Christopher A. McCulloch, University of Toronto, Canada, where her research focuses on the mechanisms of vimentin-dependent regulation of cell adhesion and cell extension formation.
