First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Olivia Grafinger is first author on ‘ β1 integrin-mediated signaling regulates MT1-MMP phosphorylation to promote tumour cell invasion’, published in JCS. Olivia is a PhD student in the lab of Dr Marc Coppolino at University of Guelph, ON, Canada, where she is interested in the relationship between cell adhesion and ECM degradation during invadopodia formation and cellular invasion.
