The transmembrane glycoprotein CD44v6 is overexpressed in most papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTC). We previously reported that osteopontin (OPN), a secreted glycoprotein that functions as a ligand for CD44v6, is overexpressed in thyrocytes transformed by the RET/PTC oncogene.
