He condenses and discusses the views of the various men who have written exhaustively on the theories of gout; but he has no experiments or new observations to urge in favour of one view more than another. His own experience has led him to adopt Garrod's uric acid theory, with a very slight modification. From his large experience of this disease, his views on its treatment are of more value than his views
