Various President's Pages in the past have focused on SEG's transformation into a global society with a majority of members outside of North America the past 15 years. In recognition of this evolution, many changes have been implemented over the years at SEG. The 2012 SEG leadership structure changes led to the election of a greater number of Board of Directors members with international backgrounds, experience, and points of view, which in turn has led to a broadening of services to members worldwide. The expansion of web-based offerings beyond digital publications into webinars, e-learning opportunities, Seismic Soundoff podcasts, SmartBrief e-newsletters, and the recently rolled-out Competency Management System allows SEG members the ability to enhance their geophysical knowledge anywhere, at any time. The opening of SEG offices in China (in 2008) and the Middle East (2012) has led to active and dynamic membership activity in these regions as expressed by the substantial number of workshops, courses, and joint conferences with local societies. Other areas of the globe, even without having local SEG offices, have also been active because, at its core, SEG remains very much a member-driven society. Opportunities for member engagement have been further enhanced with the formation of SEG Regional Advisory Committees for every region in the world.
