I don't normally turn over FTOS to another author. I did that once during the year that all four earth science societies (SEG, AAPG, SPE, and SPWLA) were headed by Chevron employees. Larry Funkhouser was president of AAPG, and I was president of SEG. We agreed to swap columns. Klaus Helbig sent me the material below. I liked it. It may be the last word on geophones. Klaus is well known and has been around a little longer than I have. (That is a long time.) Enjoy.
