The prioritization and innovation effort at SEG was begun in 2014, quite some time before the downturn in the oil and gas industry. Growth in SEG programs, coupled with tightening resource availability, made it more necessary than ever to take a data-driven approach to strategy development and use of resources. Ongoing programs had not been prioritized in the past, and new initiatives had been prioritized with little structure to the evaluation processes.
