79 New Research Techniques o ?‘ieuroanalomny. A Symposium Sponsored by the National Multipie Sclerosis Society. Edited by William F. Windle. Charles C. Thomas, Springfield, Ill. 98 pp. $4.75. This little book, less than 100 pages, includes an introduction by Wm. F. Windle and a conchsion l)y E. W. Dempsey which poses the vast field remaining for exploration perhaps more than reviewi ng Present accomplishments . Bet ween these short papers are a series of seven papers. Palay presents a dozen pages on the place which electron microscopy is now making for itself in neurohistology. Four are occupied by electron micrographs )icturing the structure of the Nissl substance, the Golgi complex of a spinal ganglion cell, the capsular cell relation to spinal ganglion cells, and the boutons termineux. These botitons are the object of a new silver procedure evolved by Rassmussen. Again, excellent illustrations are given. And another new silver procedure by Nauta demonstrates degenerati ng axons , agai n beautifully pictured. Murray’s 11 pages on tissue culture and Sokoloff’s similar contribution on local blood supply with a mathematical and radioautographic flavor, bring these methodologies into the study of neturohistology. This brings us to the two histomchemical contributions in the series. Koelle discusses the great
