This small randomised controlled trial (RCT) of ventilated patients failed to demonstrate an improvement in PaO 2 /FiO 2 with the use of regular nebulised heparin. However, nebulised heparin was associated with an increase in ventilator-free days. Level of evidence: 1 + (RCT with a low risk of bias)
