History: Age 15, rheumatic fever. Age 16, hmematemesis followed three days later by loss of sight in left eye. Age 21, three hbmatemeses during second trimester of first pregnancy. Gastroscopy and barium meal normal. Age 27, hmmatemesis, normal barium meal. Age 33, hysterectomy for menorrhagia, histology showed polypoid hyperplasia. Parmsthesia and muscle wasting in left Tl distribution. Age 38, hemoptysis after a fall. Age 39, skin and eye change of pseudoxanthoma elasticum found. Age 41, intermittent claudication in legs after walking 100 yards and in arms after washing clothes. Age 42, angina pectoris. In the past two years she has also had severe constipation and persistent lumbar pain. She has become a chronic invalid.
