In recent contribution of Stroke , Ni Chroinin et al1 reported that in patients treated with intravenous thrombolysis, statin treatment at stroke onset was not associated with favorable functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale, ≤2) at 90 days (odds ratio [OR], 1.01; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.88–1.15; P =0.93, data available from 5 observational studies, 4993 patients). Also, it was associated with an increased fatality at 90 days (pooled OR, 1.25; 95% CI, 1.02–1.52; P =0.03, 3 observational studies, 4339 patients), although this association was not observed after adjustment for potential confounding variables.The main point concerns the eligibility to intravenous thrombolysis for patients under statin treatment at stroke onset.
