On March 6 and 7, 1989, 28 researchers with expertise in cerebrovascular disease, clinical trial methodology, and biostatistics met at the Priory of Corsendonk, Belgium, to exchange views on the problems in design of clinical trials in stroke. Trials in ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke were addressed as were those in stroke prevention. The presentations are summarized below
