Adenine nucleotides (AdNs) are lost from the mitochondrial fraction of the heart cell during ischemia. It is unknown whether this pool of AdNs can be replenished after reperfusion. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the postischemic recovery of the mitochondrial AdN pool.
