RECORDING the electrocardiogram while a subject is performing the two-step test, is both simple and practicable. It can be done either by radiotelemetry or by a direct hookup technic.1 " This study was undertaken in order to evaluate the feasibility of monitoring the electrocardiogram during exercise by the direct connection technic, in a clinical setting, and to compare the sensitivity and specificity of the changes observed during exercise in the single "monitored" lead, with those appearing after exercise in the four leads usually recorded (leads II, V4 V.,, V(,).
