Preceding the study of the effect of digitalis upon coagulation of the blood, the reliability of the Lee and White method was determined in 173 normal adults. The effect of digitalis was then studied in cardiac patients before and after compenation and with normal controls in eacgroup: digitalis in clinical doses; addition of heparin to the blood; the heparin tolerance curve; the substitution of methyl methacrylate (Lucite) tubes; liver function as determined by excretion of bromsulfalein; prothrombin times.
