Many companies and other related organizations that are embracing a revolutionary technological transformation for the expansion of their development and production finds it difficult to employ qualified employees to help sustain their competitive edge in the global market due to skills gaps and more importantly a mismatch between available jobs and skills. It is imperative to increase the pool of qualified employees with varied specializations, those that are prepared to apply advanced technologies in the research, design, development, tooling, manufacturing, and service. Therefore, it is imperative to prepare the workforce for technical jobs and as well find a lasting solution to eradicate the effect of skills and training gaps (STG) on college graduate. This paper addresses skills and training gaps and their causes, professional development course (PDC) and training, benefits of PDC to employers and employees, and the minimization of STG through PDC.
