Author’s address: A. B. de Haan, Willemsparkweg 101, Amsterdam-Z (The Netherlands) A description of a slow-growing intraocular tumour occurring in an 18-year-old male is given. The neoplasm was situated between the choroid and the retina, invading both structures. According to Zimmerman it was a carcinoma of the pigment epithelium (to be published elsewhere). Discussion Bonders: Was pigment staining done and if so what was the result? Malignant choroidal melanomas can occur at an early age; I recently examined 2 eyeballs from patients aged 20 and 30 respectively with hislological evidence of a malignant choroidal melanoma. De Haan: Pigment staining was not done because none of the tumour’s features suggested that it might be a melanoma.
