Risk 1: Too Many and Heterogeneous Guidelines There are many guidelines available (more than 2,500 in Germany at the moment) and it is by no means clear to which clinical situation certain guidelines apply. There are guidelines of different quality with different levels of evidence; and even for one disease, such as a particular cancer, different guidelines exist from different medical societies [7].
