If these are used in prospective studies, they must include adequate sensitivity to change over time. Prior to using a questionnaire, its quality characteristics should be examined for validity, reliability, specificity and sensitivity using the criteria formulated below. There are several validated QOL questionnaires in skin diseases, allergies, wound healing and venous diseases available in English, German and other language versions. Foreign language inventories require re-validation after translation.
