The cold-rolling and annealing textures of a deep-drawingphosphorus steel have been studied by the spatial orientation distributionof the crystallites. The characteristics of the orientationdistribution functions of the as-cold-rolled and of the annealedsheets were closely examined. The observed features suggest thatthe annealing texture is originated by microband or transition-bandnucleation, followed by the growth of recrystallized grains at theexpense of the matrix deformation textures. The crystallite orientationdistribution of the annealed sheet of the deep-drawing phosphorussteel is clearly different from that of the annealed sheetof deep-drawing aluminum-killed steels.
