The use of energy-dispersive X-ray diffractionfor quantitative determination of preferredorientations in polycrystalline specimens is analysed. The method is applied to determinations ofrolling texture and fibre texture. The adaptabilityof the method to in situ studies is demonstrated byobservations of texture changes simultaneous withthe deformation of a specimen in a tension test.
